MoKan Trail
Planning Underway for Next Segment of the MoKan Trail
Austin Public Works is developing a .75-mile section of the trail (Springdale Road to North Pleasant Valley Road). The Urban Trails Program is managing the project through all phases of design, construction, and inspection. Funding sources for the design and construction of this trail segment include the 2020 Mobility Bond and $1 million in federal Community Project Funding secured by Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
Trail Crossing Under Airport Boulevard Completed!
In partnership with the City of Austin's Urban Trails Program, Stonelake Capital Partners, LLC completed construction recently on a section of the MoKan Trail. This quarter-mile section extended the existing trail behind the Trailhead Apartments at Shady Lane to Springdale Road.
A small piece of the trail (see map) will serve as a temporary route until the Urban Trails Program acquires the section of land owned by the Union Pacific Railroad needed for a straight-through connection.
